SWIM TEAM

By Delaney Baker

The Seton LaSalle Swim team has some extraordinary talent this season and they worked hard to lap the competition all season. The Seton LaSalle Swim Team is composed of four boys and seven girls. The coaches are Ed Chow and 2022 alumnus Simon Gazarick.
This season the team had 13 meets with seven home meets at the Keystone Oaks pool. The team remains in Section 1 AA and their section consists of Carlynton, Chartiers Valley, Cornell, The Ellis School, Keystone Oaks, and Montour. The girls’ team's record is 1-11 and the boys is 0-11.
Michelle Allen, the team’s sole senior, has been on the swim team for all four years. She competes in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 backstroke categories.
Freshman Julia Obara has recently made a name for herself by qualifying for the WPIAL Championships, which were held from February 29 to March 1. Obara said, “Making WPIALs gives me a feeling of accomplishment since it is the next step up.” She previously qualified for other small meets throughout her career. Julia revealed, “It's exciting especially since I have worked for so long (10 years).”
Mason Beauregard, class of 2021, has also done extraordinary things in previous years. He broke two records: one in the 100 butterfly and one in the 100 backstroke. Throughout his time, he qualified for WPIALs every year in all the events, but he only competed in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly.
