BOYS' VARSITY BASKETBALL

By Sydney Towers

This team knows how to dunk their way to success. The Seton LaSalle Boys Varsity Basketball team wrapped up their season with a record of 16-7. With the loss of four important seniors from last year’s squad, the athletes and coaches had to grow as a young team.

The boys had the goals of winning the Class 3A Section 2 Title and WPIAL championship as well. “Achieving the section title this year was better than most of my years here although it was probably a bit worse than last year since we went further in the playoffs,” said senior captain Hayden Merchant.

According to junior Patrick Weldon, the most satisfying win was against Our Lady of Sacred Heart. Both teams were undefeated at the time, so it gave Seton the lead in the section.

However, the most difficult loss was against Burrel in the first round of playoffs. The team had high hopes to make it further, but were caught off guard.
This year, the team had five seniors. As they move on to the next chapter of their lives, the underclassmen will remember the impact they left. Freshman Eli Latouf explained, “The senior class this year showed us where hard work and trusting each other can take you and they taught me many great life lessons I’ll never forget.”

Overall, the boys had a great season and they can’t wait to get back on the court.
