GIRLS BASKETBALL PREVIEW
By Mallory Daly
The Seton LaSalle Girls Basketball team has eight returning players and they’re looking to rebound from last season. Last year, the Rebels went 12-11, but they plan to win the section this season. This team is a very young team, having only three upperclassmen.
“We had a really tough section last year. Many teams lost a lot of good players, so I think we will be able to win the section,” senior Mallory Daly stated.
“I think we have a good chance at beating most of the teams, but K.O. is obviously our rivals, so I think that might be a tougher game,” said junior Marleea Ruscitto.
Head Coach Jordan Giles has been coaching girls basketball at Seton LaSalle for six years. Assistant Coach Carly Lutz has coached the team for two years. Coach Jordan used open gyms throughout the summer to improve the team.
“Like last season, we should have a pretty tough section, one of the toughest sections in 3A. But with the experience we have gained, I expect our team to make a long run and have more success, especially when our team plays as one,” Head Coach Jordan Giles expressed.
Junior Marleea Ruscitto said, “Coach Jordan has been having us work very hard in the off-season. This team is getting better everyday.”
Over the summer, the team worked on finishing at the rim, getting tons of shots up, and ball handling. Practices were tough because only a few girls participated because of Fall Sports, so the team rarely had enough players to scrimmage.
