SHADOWING EXPERIENCE

By Kate Gilmore

One of the best things that Seton LaSalle has to offer to incoming students is the shadow day experience. When students have the opportunity to feel the warm atmosphere of the building, they feel instantly connected.
Mrs. KR says that she tries to “pair the student with the student that best matches their interests.”
In the school year 2022-2023, there were a total of 164 shadow students: 100 males and 64 females. Out of these 164, there was one homeschooled student, three cyber school students, 48 public school students, and 112 Catholic school students. The strongest ratio is obviously Catholic school students continuing their religious school experience.
For this school year, 2023-2024 (to date), there have been a total of 62 shadow students. If you look at the ratios, there have been approximately eight more students than last year this time. Out of our shadow visitors, 23 have been males and 39 have been female. Out of these 62, there have been one student from a Christian school, 18 public school students, and 43 Catholic school students.
Students who shadow at Seton LaSalle normally have positive experiences. “My shadowing experience made me like Seton more,” said Gabriella Schmidt, an incoming freshman.
Schmitt shadowed McKenna Reilly last year. Sophomore Reilly said, ”Gabbi and I had been talking about her coming to shadow for so long and her expectations were definitely fulfilled.”
Schmitt thought the Seton LaSalle community was very welcoming. Schmitt stated, “After shadowing, I definitely would want to come here, it was so fun.”
The shadow experience is what causes a lot of incoming students to choose Seton LaSalle. All of the shadow visitors come from different schools and it’s telling that the majority of students who shadow at Seton LaSalle pick Seton LaSalle.
