TEACHERS PIED IN THE FACE FOR CHARITY

By Jaedyn Zilch

To kick off a fun Thanksgiving break on 11-22, the Student Council held a “Pie a Teacher in the Face” event as a charity fundraiser for the Morning Star Baptist Church of Clairton. A total of 10 teachers sat in a chair, while 10 students gave them their just desserts.

Senior Mila Obrion explained that Student Council sold tickets at lunch for one dollar each. If a student bought a ticket, they could place it into the manila envelope with the teacher they wanted to hit with a pie. Senior Obrion mentioned, “The more tickets bought the more money we raised. We had students who had put 10 and 20 dollars worth of tickets into one teachers folder.”

Dr. Stefani Sobol-Pastor and Mr. Jacob Wilson were the teachers that raised the most money and had the most tickets in their envelopes. In the end, the grand total that was raised was $1,450. Ms.Holly Herbertson said, “The best will be when the Student Council gets to shop for these winter items and have them delivered to those in need.”

“Raising money for charity is a beautiful thing that we can do here at Seton LaSalle. The sacrifices we make are worth it knowing someone else is getting the help they need,”exclaimed Mr. Wilson.

Sophomore Keenu Brooks commented, “I really enjoyed getting to pie Mr. Wilson in the face, I still think about how funny it is when he put those goggles on because he was definitely scared.”

Dr. Pastor had a unique take on this fundraiser idea, so there is no better way to end this story. Here is her full response:

Tickets that I received:

were they 'the most,' or otherwise?

Ask Miss Herbertson!

She's our "MONEY MAKER!"

TWICE the EARNINGS should prove it:

"PIE-pularity!"

Ha ha ha ha ha!

That wasn't the PIE POINT though.

Build community,

solidarity

with those who suffer hunger

in our area,

and show that we are

creative, charitable,

fun-loving REBELS!

Do I hope I "WON?"

Well... HECK, YES!  I always say:

"Winners get sprinkles!"
