CHEERLEADERS

By Katelyn Gilmore and McKenna Reilly

“You don’t have to be friends to have a sturdy base for your team.” - Sophia Peretin

Spirit is what makes up the Seton LaSalle Rebels. Our school may not be the biggest in the area, but the students try to be the loudest. The school community spirit was shown the most at Seton LaSalle’s Pep Rally that occurred on September 15th was filled with a lot of school spirit and laughter.

The cheerleaders take the lead in getting the students hype. They excite the crowd, fire up student athletes, and encourage the crowds to participate in games whether the teams are winning or losing. The senior cheerleaders take great pride in leading “Go Rebels, Go!” chants.

The squad’s leaders are Sophia Peretin (Captain), Elizabeth Barone (Co-Captain), Bella Russel, and Catie Kozel. Every senior said they’re very proud of the cheerleading team this 2023 season.

Senior Sophia Peretin says she feels the team has  come a long way and has learned to drop all their problems when they walk into practice. Peretin explained, “You don’t have to be friends to have a sturdy base for your team.” Peretin hopes that the cheerleaders and student section will forevermore be in sync and work together to motivate the football team the best they can.

Senior Elizabeth Barone affirmed the seamlessness of the team.

Peretin said her connection with Mila O’Brion, Student Section Leader, has made all the difference this year. Their friendship has made the atmosphere at Seton LaSalle football games even more exhilarating. Peretin noted, “Eye contact makes all the difference."
